Lexie Ogram(Hull &ER)
Mei Whattam (Chapel Allerton)
Frankie Hartley (Wakefield)
Nancy Colley (Leyburn)
In their first match all girls played well to gain a resounding victory against Essex 2, which gave the girls an excellent start to their campaign.
Their next tie was an altogether much tighter affair against Kent. Frankie got the team off to an excellent start with a 3/0 win at 3rd string. Lexie’s match at 1st string was a very entertaining affair and despite her very best efforts she lost 0/3. The tie now in the balance, Mei at 2nd string played some excellent controlled squash to win 3/0 and give the team their second win.
The final match was against the hosts and favourites Essex 1. Frankie again got the team off to the perfect and best possible start against Olivia Broderick winning 3/1. Lexie found it tough against Essex top player Hannah Morley she lost 0/3. The stage was now set for Mei to contest the final rubber against Poppy Smee-Hotene and as both girls were nervous, the match swayed first one way and then the other, however, Mei managed to start the final game in a strong manner and then never looked back to eventually win 3/2.
The girls ran out winners by the narrowest of margins with 30 points and 29 points to Essex 1.
